"For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."

— Ephesians 2:10

📖

Having established that we are not saved by works, Paul immediately clarifies: we ARE created for works. The Ephesians are God's workmanship — the Greek word is poiema, from which we get 'poem.' They are His masterpiece, made for a prepared purpose.

We are not saved just to be safe — we are God's masterpiece with a specific purpose; the good works He calls us to were planned by Him before we were born.

When a craftsman makes something — a chair, a sculpture, a piece of music — they make it with a purpose in mind from the very beginning. God made you the same way. You are His handiwork — not mass-produced, but crafted — and He had specific good works in mind for you before you arrived. Your life has intentional purpose.

🕊

Lord, thank You that I am Your handiwork and that You have prepared good works for me to do. Help me find and walk in those works today. I am not saved just to be safe — I am made for purpose. Show me mine. Amen.
